It features over-the-shoulder seams, set in sleeves with adjustable cuffs, unusual button front closure, and optional pockets styles. Detailed instructions for the "flower & vine" stacked wool appliqué embellishments are included in the pattern.

High Whorling Dress and Apron

The scalloped border at the hemline of this dress is unusual and pleasing to the eye. This beautiful design is borrowed from Jan Patek's, of Jan Patek Quilts, and Alma Allen's "Baskets, Berries, & Leaves" quilt. The loose-fitting dress features a front opening bodice, rounded collar, and long sleeves. Design details include a slimming, bias-cut band inserted at the junction of the bodice and skirt and a graceful lengthening at the center back, accented by an inverted pleat. A "panier" pocket detaches from the dress and doubles as a small purse. The bias-trimmedapron is open at the sides with ties for adjusting fit.

The caftan features a braided tie and button closure at the neckline, optional reversed facings for neckline embellishment, adjustable cuffed sleeves, and side vents at the hemline for ease in walking. The caftan comes in two sizes; both are included in the pattern.

This outstanding coat pattern can be made either as a front-opening jacket or a pullover poncho and includes a choice of two lengths, scalloped hemline, rolled collar or jewel neckline, a coordinating bias-cut scarf, small purse, and detachable hood. Optional design features include a unique braided tie and button front closure, and a pocket and back yoke with released lower edges that hang free from the body of the jacket. Jan Patek's "winter angel" or "house, tree, and star" designs can be hand appliquéd or hooked as an embellishment.
