| Tattered Silk Ribbon Scarf Sunday, April 18, 2010, 1:00-4:00 pm Hand dyed silk ribbons in varying widths and exquisite threads will be utilized to construct this delicate one-of-a-kind open weave scarf. Lengths of silk ribbon
will be arranged on a base of water soluble stabilizer. A grid pattern will then be machine stitched over the ribbons. The scarf will be completed by dipping it in water
to dissolve the stabilizer. |
| Anything Goes Bag Friday, April 16, 2010, 12:30-4:30 pm Choose a funky bag and add the finishing touches to give it the personality of its owner! Melissa will construct and bring to class several basic bags- each one totally unique, completely pieced and patched from vintage fabrics, recycled clothing, drapery and upholstery fabric scraps. Each student will select a bag from an array of choices. Classroom instruction time will focus on assisting each student in designing and adding features, such as inside or outside pockets, a fun closure, an awesome shoulder strap or handle, and other functional or one-of-a-kind embellishments. A sewing machine will be available in class. Students familiar with machine sewing may opt to utilize it, but the project can be completed using only hand stitching techniques. Finished bag sizes will vary… but are best described as substantial size shoulder bags. Sign up at www.europeanpapers.com |
